About Me

Hi there! My name is Daniel and I’m a front-end developer and occasional web designer based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I focus on building blazingly fast websites that look beautiful and are accessible to everyone, and I am passionate about code standards and quality, with a keen interest in typography and design systems.

I have worked with clients such as ArtistYear and CrossLead, helping them connect with their visitors and increase their global web presence. I am currently working as a front-end developer at Van Ons, a digital agency in Amsterdam (I also designed and built our website!).

I am considering new freelance work opportunities, so if you think we’d be a good fit please get in touch!

About this website

I always love reading about the tools that people use to make their websites, and the decisions behind using them. We’re lucky to live in a day and age where so many people make their tools and services available to everyone, making our lives as developers much easier.

I built this website with Hugo, an extremely fast open-source static site generator written in Go. Hosting is taken care of by Netlify (highly recommended!).

The CSS—written in Sass—is built on top of inuitcss by Harry Roberts, and follows the ITCSS philosophy. I use Gulp with a bunch of extensions to combine and minify all code, Webpack to bundle all JavaScript, and ESLint and Prettier to ensure my JavaScript and Sass stay consistent.

The typeface is Fira Sans, a humanist sans-serif typeface released in 2013 for Firefox OS.
